Is hell forever?
Jesus used the same word, eternal, for punishment and for life (Matthew 25:46). Most Christians believe hell is conscious and endless; some believe it ends in permanent destruction. All agree it is final.
This is a real question that Bible-believing Christians answer in two ways. The majority view, held through most of church history, is eternal conscious punishment. A minority view, conditional immortality, holds that the lost are finally and permanently destroyed.
Both views agree on what matters most: judgment is real and final, there is no second chance after death, and the way to be saved is through Jesus.
46These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
