What the rest of the Bible says
God does not want anyone to perish
Before anything else, the Bible says God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, wants all people to be saved, and is patient so that people can turn to Him.
God's desire
The Bible never describes God as eager to punish. Through Ezekiel God pleads with His people to turn and live. Peter says the Lord is patient, not wanting anyone to perish. Paul says God wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
11Tell them, ‘“As I live,” says the Lord Yahweh, “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why will you die, house of Israel?”’
